Join us on November 22 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. for a Fall Schoolyard Cleanup!

Help rake leaves, tidy garden beds, pick up sticks, and help prepare our outdoor spaces for winter. All ages are welcome! Drinks and snacks will be provided.

DES PTO Coat Drive!

Our annual Coat Drive begins THIS WEEK, starting on November 20 and running through December 9. Join us in donating new and gently used coats to children in need — from babies to big kids!

As the temperatures begin to dip, please consider giving the gift of warmth this holiday season.❄️

Chick-fil-A Spirit Day: December 2

Join us for food and fun at Chick-fil-A Edgewater on December 2! Come support the DES PTO and a percentage of sales will be donated. The best part? It runs all day so no matter if you want breakfast, lunch or dinner, we have you covered.

DES Holiday Shoppe

This year's Holiday Shoppe will be Tuesday, December 9, from 4:30-7:30 p.m. 

We are recruiting parent volunteers and elves to help with the event. If you are a parent interested in helping, or a parent of a fifth-grader who wants to be an elf, please click here to sign up.

We will have Benny's Pizza Truck joining us outside with some tasty options you can plan on grabbing while you wait or take home for dinner 🍕

Bake Sale

We're asking for help to make our 2025 Holiday Shoppe Bake Sale a huge success! Please use this form to sign up to contribute in any way that you can. We love all types of treats (homemade, store-bought, snacks, drinks, whatever!). Treats should be individually packaged.

All donations need to be dropped off at the front of school by 3 p.m. on Tuesday, December 9.

Girls on the Run

Girls on the Run is looking for one more parent volunteer to join the coaching team! The club focuses on inspiring girls to build their confidence through interactive lessons and physical activities. The Girls on the Run Club will meet two days a week and is open to girls in 3rd-5th grade. Please reach out to Jennafer Palumbo if you are interested in becoming a coach at DES!

Phase 2 Redistricting Briefing and Hearings

The Board of Education of Anne Arundel County has its second, and final, public hearing on the Phase 2 redistricting plan at 6 p.m. on Monday, November 1 at the Parham Building, located at 2644 Riva Road in Annapolis. 

The Board is scheduled to vote on adoption of a plan at its next meeting, scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, November 19, 2025.

The plan adopted by the Board will go into effect for the 2026-2027 school year.

Speed Enforcement Camera on W Central Avenue

On Monday, November 17, 2025, an automated speed enforcement camera will become active in our school zone. The camera will operate from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday through Friday, to help reduce vehicle speeds and promote safer driving habits in the vicinity of DES and other schools. Citations will be issued after a 15-day warning period. Visit the Automated Traffic Enforcement Speed Program web page for more information.
