Yearbook photo contributions needed

The Yearbook Committee needs your help to make this school year's yearbook great! We need as many photos as possible and having our parents, teachers, and staff contribute photos is the best way to ensure that our students are well represented in the yearbook. Throughout the year, we will be asking for photos of various events for consideration for inclusion in the yearbook.  We are currently asking for photos for the events listed below (we will be sending out links for additional events throughout the school year).  Click on the link for each specific event to upload photos for that event. The password to upload photos is Davidsonville26!

If you have any questions, please email desgatorsyearbook@gmail.com.

Volunteering
Volunteer Spotlight

Thank you to Amanda Fisher for organizing a teacher luncheon for the PTO last week. The teachers and staff were treated to lunch from Luna Blu and desserts provided by DES families from the neighborhood of Glen Isle. We appreciate you!

Hoops for Learning Volunteers Needed

In March, we'll run a brand-new fundraiser called Hoops for Learning. This student-driven event combines the thrill of basketball with the power of giving, as participants take their best shots on the court while family, friends, and caregivers pledge donations for each basket made.

All students will shoot hoops on March 16, and we need volunteers to make this happen! Sign up for an hour (or more) here. Due to space limitations, only those who sign up to volunteer will be able to attend.

DES ISEC (Science Fair) Volunteer Judges Needed

The annual DES Innovators of Science & Engineering Challenge features students in grades 3-5. Participation is voluntary and does not impact the students’ grade.

Projects are judged by volunteer guest judges. The Science and Engineering fair judging will be held on March 18 & 19, and we are looking for 10-15 parent volunteers between 3:40-5:40 pm to help out.

Please sign up hereby March 13th

For questions, reach out to Jess Miller at jmrindos@gmail.com

Substitute Volunteers needed in the Media Center

Ms. Kaiser is in need of a few parents who are willing to be contacted to help as needed with book check-in in the media center from 8am-9am.

Clubs
Girls on the Run starts THIS WEEK

Girls on the Run of the Greater Chesapeake invites girls in 3rd-5th grade to join in on lessons taught by trained volunteer coaches who create a welcoming environment using our evidence-based curriculum. "Hello, Mountain Mover!" lessons teach girls about their I CAN power.

What can you expect this season? Your Girls on the Run team will meet twice a week for ten weeks. Coaches will lead fun activities and discussions. Together, your team will create a project that supports your community. At the end of the season, you'll celebrate by participating in a non-competitive 5K celebration.

This club will start in February.

Click the flyer for details and Register HERE.

Anne Arundel County Free School Museum event

The Anne Arundel Free School Museum in Davidsonville (within the Lavall community) is hosting an event on Sunday, February 22 from 1pm - 4pm to celebrate America's 250th birthday!  They will feature portraits of George Washington created by our own amazing DES fifth graders, as well as other fun and educational opportunities!  The museum leader from the AAFSM recently connected with our art team and visited fifth grade classes to share about this community event.  We hope you are able to check it out!
