The Gator Blast

August 16, 2026

Brought to you by the Davidsonville Elementary School Parent Teacher Organization

The DES PTO Gator Blast
Sneak-a-Peek
🐊PTO Stock the School!💚

As we get ready for another fantastic school year, we’d love your help stocking our classrooms with a few extra supplies!

During Sneak-a-Peek THIS Thursday, August 20, from 9:00–10:00 a.m., families are invited to bring a donation based on their last name:

A–D: Tissues
E–K: Paper Towels
L–S: Clorox Wipes
T–Z: Hand Sanitizer

This is a one-day collection only during Sneak-a-Peek.

While the school has a budget for classroom supplies, we know that additional needs arise throughout the school year. If you’re able to contribute one of the items above, it will help keep our classrooms clean, healthy, and well-stocked for our students and teachers.

Please know that this donation is completely optional—there is absolutely no pressure or expectation to participate. Your presence at Sneak-a-Peek is what matters most, and we’re simply grateful for any support families are able to provide.

Thank you for helping our amazing Gators start the year strong! We can’t wait to see everyone on August 20!

Volunteering
Upcoming Opportunities

Gator Gear Volunteers

Looking for a simple way to help this school year? Volunteering at the Gator Gear table is a great microvolunteering opportunity! We're looking for volunteers to help at Sneak-a-Peek and Back to School Night, and any amount of time is appreciated — even just 30 minutes makes a big difference. Learn more and sign up here.

Kindergarten Welcome Wagon

Help us welcome the newest class of gators to DES by volunteering during the Kindergarten Welcome Wagon on August 24 and August 25. Kindergarteners and their families will be welcomed by PTO volunteers who will help check them in for teacher conferences, direct them where to go, answer questions, and provide welcome gifts and refreshments.

We are in need of morning and afternoon volunteers both days; exact times will be provided once released by the main office. Sign up here.

Volunteering Requirements

Are you interested in volunteering at DES? All volunteers must complete either a Commercial Background Check or a Fingerprinted Supported Background Check through Anne Arundel County Public Schools.

What's the Difference?

  • Commercial Background Checks: required for all volunteers without one-on-one unsupervised or unrestricted access to students ie. helping at class parties, being a guest reader, chaperoning day time field trips, volunteering at the Book Fair, etc.
    • No cost
    • Good for 2 years
    • About 3 weeks to process.
    • Click here to complete the background check.
  • Fingerprint Supported Background Checks: include a Commercial Background Check and are required for volunteers that may have one-on-one unsupervised or unrestricted access to students ie. drown proofing volunteers, overnight field trip chaperones, regular club volunteers, etc.
    • $63
    • Good for your student's entire uninterrupted school career within AACPS. (This check will also stay in tact for any younger siblings that are not yet school age.)
    • If you would like to schedule, please contact the AACPS Fingerprint Office at 410-222-5045.

To find out more information about volunteering in Anne Arundel County Public Schools visit this website.

The PTO will hold a Fingerprint Event in October at DES! More information will be coming soon on how to sign up.

Fundraising
Become a DES PTO Corporate Sponsor!

We're looking for local businesses to join our 2026–2027 Davidsonville Elementary School PTO Corporate Sponsorship Program!

When you become a sponsor, you're not just promoting your business; you’re investing in our students, teachers, and school community. Your support helps fund classroom resources, educational enrichment, family events, teacher appreciation, and so much more throughout the year.

With sponsorship levels starting at just $150, there's an opportunity for businesses of every size to get involved. Sponsors receive valuable recognition through PTO events, our website, Gator Blast newsletter, social media, and more, depending on sponsorship level.

Ready to get started or know a local business that loves supporting schools?  Reach out to VP of Fundraising, Alison Moser, to learn more and sign up today!

Bus Routes and Schedules

Bus routes and schedules for the 2026-2027 school year are now available online. For complete information, go to www.aacps.org/buses. Information may change prior to the start of the school year as routes are adjusted, so please check back periodically. Questions should be directed to the Transportation Division.

Supply Lists for 2026-2027

Again this year, AACPS has provided additional funding to reduce the cost of school supplies for families. Families will only be responsible for providing a backpack and other personal supplies like lunch boxes, water bottles, and headphones (wired plug-in only; NO bluetooth).

*Please label each item with your child's name.*

Emergency Card Verification Forms

AACPS has sent emails to all families to ensure that they have the most up-to-date contact and safety information on file for your student(s).

An email with directions on how to access your child’s form have been sent to the email address on file for Contact 1, the primary contact. If you have not received an email yet or do not have an email address on file, please reach our DES Administration for support.

The Emergency Card Verification Form can be accessed online here.
