Fundraising & Events

No Fuss Fundraiser

We know the start of the school year can be hectic, and your time is valuable. That's why the DES PTO is bringing back the No-Fuss Fundraiser - a simple way to support our school without the extra effort. An easy way to make a direct donation to help us kick off the year strong!

Every dollar raised goes directly to support your student this academic year -  from classroom/recess supplies and enrichment programs to school-wide events and literacy resources. Help us hit our $10,000 goal between September 3-14 and get a BMX assembly this fall!

Skate Night

Save the date for our first Skate Night on Thursday, September 25, 4:30 - 6:30 p.m.! Pre-order your tickets at least 24 hours in advance here.

New to DES Skate Nights? This is one of DES’s favorite traditions! All the fun happens at Skate Zone in Crofton! It’s always a fun evening filled with friends, laughter, and plenty of music. Admission is just $5 per person (even if you’re not skating), plus $5 per skate rental if needed. Skate Zone serves food and drink! This is a great chance for new and veteran families to connect and be part of the DES community. We can’t wait to see you there!

Clubs

Fall Club Registration is now open for Yoga, Martial Arts, Chess, and Spanish! Space is limited, so register today! Visit the PTO Sponsored Programs and Clubs portion of our website to learn more information about the clubs offered.

Financial Assistance is available for all clubs, please reach out to Jaime Superczysnki at jsuperczynski@aacps.org for more information.

If a club you are interested in has reached capacity, please sign your student up on the waitlist. You will be contacted if space becomes available.

Volunteering
Upcoming Opportunities

Gator Gear Volunteers

We're still looking for volunteers to help sell Gator Gear at Back to School Night. Learn more and sign up here

Media Center Volunteers

Ms. Kaiser is looking for parents and grandparents who can regularly help out in the media center this school year! Help is needed checking in and reshelving books. Please reach out to Brooke at vpvolunteers.pto.des@gmail.com if you are interested in learning more.

General Information & Fingerprint Event

Are you interested in volunteering at DES? All volunteers must complete either a Commercial Background Check or a Fingerprinted Supported Background Check through Anne Arundel County Public Schools.

What's the Difference?

Commercial Background Checks are required for all volunteers without one-on-one unsupervised or unrestricted access to students. (Ex. helping at class parties, being a guest reader, chaperoning day time field trips, volunteering at the Book Fair, etc.). There is no cost for completing this background check, it will last two years, and usually takes about three weeks to be processed. Click here to complete the background check.

Fingerprint Supported Background Checks include a Commercial Background Check and are required for volunteers that may have one-on-one unsupervised or unrestricted access to students (drown proofing volunteers, overnight field trip chaperones, regular club volunteers, etc.). Completing a fingerprint supported background check through AACPS costs $61.75 and will last your student's entire uninterrupted school career in the county. (This check will also stay in tact for any younger siblings that are not yet school age.) If you would like to schedule a Fingerprint Supported Background Check, please contact the AACPS Fingerprint Office at 410-222-5045.

To find out more information about volunteering in Anne Arundel County Public Schools visit this website.

Fingerprint Event

The PTO will be hosting a Fingerprint Event right here at DES on September 30th from 5:30-7:30pm. Learn more and sign up for a slot at the event today! Space is limited.
