Holiday Shoppe - Thank you!

What a fantastic event we had! Thank you to all the families who came in and shopped for mystery bags and baked goods. Our Gators had a fun time shopping for their family members. 

We thank our 5th-grade elves for their hard work helping our younger shoppers.

Tues/Fri Morning Media Help

Library Help: Ms.Kaiser needs help in the media center on Tuesday and Friday mornings to check in books. If you can help, please get in touch with Ms. Kaiser directly at ckaiser@aacps.org.

Clubs
Coming Soon...Yoga Club - Winter Session

Whole Kids Yoga will return for a winter Yoga Club.  Starting January 10, this club will meet on Wednesdays. More information and details on how to register are coming soon!

Spring Club Needs

For the Chess Club to return this spring, we need a parent volunteer to act as chairperson for the club. The chairperson helps communicate with the company that runs the club and coordinates parent volunteers to be at the meetings. Please reach out to Brooke Zingler at vpvolunteers.pto.des@gmail.com if you are interested in hearing more about this role.

Fundraising
Bake sale

Thank you to everyone who helped with the Bake Sale. We raised an amazing $751, which will go towards the reusable bag initiative led by some of our fifth graders.

Mystery Bags

Thanks to all who purchased a Mystery Bag! We raised $1040 for the DES PTO.

Community
Parent Date Night!

The officers of Backpacks for Baltimore, a service club at South River HS, are hosting a date night for parents on Friday, December 15, from 5 to 8 PM as a club fundraiser. See Flyer for more details. 

AACPD - D.A.R.E. Program

The Anne Arundel County Police Southern District is offering the 10-week D.A.R.E. (Drug Awareness Resistance Education) Keepin It Real curriculum for 5th and 6th graders.

Last week to donate to the DES 2023 Toy Drive

The DES Holiday Toy Drive is wrapping up this week. You can still bring new toys and drop them off in the bin in the school's vestibule! This toy collection will support The Sharing Foundation. It is run by volunteers who help families in need in Anne Arundel County.
